Hello All

Welcome to a new cricket season! With the new season comes a range of exciting changes and initiatives at CCC.

Firstly, the building of our new ‘Elite Training Centre’ is well underway. Contractors are working feverishly to have it finished before the start of the season.

The club has appointed a new curator – Josh Morris. Josh brings to the club a great deal of experience, having trained under Kevin Mitchell at the Gabba. In his short time with us he has already built 2 new pitches on field 2, has top dressed the main field and repaired all our broken tractors and equipment! We have appointed a new head coach – Chris Briody. Chris has played for QLD Country and was previously the head coach at the Saints Cricket Club in Townsville. By day, Chris is an exercise physiologist. He has some exciting training plans for the coming season.

We have also appointed Craig Peck into an advisory coaching position. Craig is a former first grade Premier League player from NSW (I know this is the disappointing bit). He is also currently the batting coach for the Sunshine Coast Scorchers. I’m sure Craig will offer great experience and advice to our players and support to our head coach (despite his NSW origins).

New Committee

The 2016/17 Committee is a fine blend of the young and old (and some who are not quite sure which camp they fit into). This year, every committee member has an allocated area of responsibility. We hope that all other club members will pull their weight in assisting the committee with their significant responsibilities.

CCC Vision

“To be the most professional cricket club on the Sunshine Coast, achieving excellence both on and off the field”.

CCC will achieve this vision through:

• Forward planning
• Team work
• Effective communication
• A desire to listen, learn and improve
• Passion, energy and commitment
• Good governance

New – Colts Team

CCC is looking at creating opportunities for young players who are too old for junior cricket but feel they are not quite ready for senior cricket.

Our CCC Colts team is open to young players 18 and under. The colts team will also have a couple of senior players who will act as mentors/coaches/players etc.

If you join the colts team you will play in a senior division at an appropriate grading level, but you will play with other people your own age and be a part of the same team each week.

Playing in the colts team will not limit your opportunities. If and when you feel you are ready you can make yourself available for selection in the higher grades.

New – Discount for U21 players

The committee recognises that the club needs young players to ensure its success into the future. We also recognise that playing fees are high and so we have decided to implement a discount for anyone who has not yet turned 21 by 30 September 2016

Junior Aged Players Playing Senior cricket

This is always a contentious issue. The CCC committee recognises that some eligible junior players may be so gifted with talent that they prefer to play senior cricket instead of junior cricket.

The problems arise when these juniors want to play both junior and senior cricket.

The committee has decided that these players will need to make a decision to be either a junior player or a senior player.

Junior Player – Means you pay the junior fees and your first priority is juniors. You will be picked in juniors ahead of senior players. You will be able to make yourself available for selection in seniors but you will only play if no seniors are available. If/When you play seniors you won’t have to pay extra registration or match fees. Please note, if you sign up as a junior, you will be expected to play juniors.

Under Age Senior Player* – Means you pay the senior fees and/or match fees and your first priority is seniors. You will be picked in seniors on merit according to selection guidelines. You will be able to make yourself available for selection in juniors but you will only play if no juniors are available. If/When you play juniors you won’t have to pay extra registration or match fees

*Before any junior age player is accepted as a senior player they must have approval from our head coach

2016/17 Fee Structure

The senior playing/membership fees listed below have been approved for the 2016/17 season.

Senior players can choose to either pay a bulk fee to cover their registration and playing fees for the entire season, or pay a registration fee and a weekly game fee.

Registration and Payment

Make it easy for everyone by registering on line and paying by direct debit.

You should have recently been sent an email from the club giving you a Mycricket ID number and password. Follow the link in this email and enter your ID and password. You will be asked to create a new password. Once you have created your new password go to the Mycricket website and search for Caloundra Cricket Club. You need to select My Club – Caloundra Cricket Club – This will bring up the on-line registration option.

To register, simply enter your ID Number and new password, select the appropriate competition and complete the details.

We are encouraging everyone to make payment via a direct debit.

If you don’t wish to register online and pay by direct debit then you will be able to fill in a form and bring your money into the club. Rodd Palmer will provide follow up information with details about when/where etc.

Senior Training

Training begins this Tuesday 9 August, 5pm at the club. A 2nd training session will be held the following Tuesday in a location yet to be decided. We realise that some people are still caught up with winter sports and may not make the first few sessions.

As a courtesy, please advise if you are unable to attend training for any reason on the player’s facebook page. We understand the new coaching panel have some firm ideas on the importance of ALL PLAYERS attending training.

Hope you all have a great season
